Astrology
 Astrology is the study of the movement of different celestial bodies (mainly the planets)as it related to the effect or influence over one's personality and life path. It is considered a modern form of divination. Astrology is an art that is used to interpret the past, present and future according to the celestial placement.Astrology is mentioned since the third millennium BC., where it played a major role in shaping the culture, early astronomy and the Vedas, as well as different disciplines throughout history. Astrology and Astronomy were one and the same before the modern era. They parted ways in the 18th century, where Astronomy took on the study of the planets without regards to the earthly influences. The word Astrology comes from the Latin word astrologia ("astronomy"), which comes from the Greek noun Aston ("constellation" or a "star") and logia ("the study of"). Western Astrology is most popular in western countries. It is largely based on the construction of the horoscope for a precise movement. The location of the Sun is most important. Also the birth time and placement of the celestial planets at that particular time. Vedic Astrology, is another way to practice astrology- Jyotisa. It means "Light, heavenly body". Jyotisa belongs to the Vendangas, which are mentioned in the Upanishads. The idea behind this astrology is to connect the macrocosm with the microcosm. |
